Gandhi, Big B may feature in Google logos

My India’ specialised logos will be drawn by schoolchildren and featured on festive occasions in India.

Mahatma Gandhi, the Taj Mahal or Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan drawn by schoolchildren may soon feature in specialised homepage logos in popular search engine Google on festive occasions in India.

Specialised logos based on the theme ‘My India’ will feature on the special days including national holidays and other festive occasions, according to Google India.

These logos will be selected from the ‘Doodle 4 Google’ competition, where schoolchildren across the country will be asked to “think about what is India and what it means to them,” and then represent their vision pictorially, Arvind Desikan, Head of Consumer Marketing, Google India said.

The contestants may include any aspect of India that may mean something to an individual, Desikan said, adding that the organisers do not want to restrict the theme.

“We do not want to restrict the theme. We believe that the concept ‘My India’ is a personal one. We are one billion people and we have each experienced India in our own special way,” he said.

“Whether it’s cricket, the Taj Mahal, Amitabh Bachchan, Mahatma Gandhi, Bharatanatyam, Aryabhatta... we want this young generation to tell us what they think through a doodle,” he said.

“The competition seeks to celebrate the talent and the spirit of Indian children. The winners’ doodles will be displayed on Google’s homepage for millions of people to see.”

Desikan said the competition will bring out the artist in every child, and that he hopes to harness their talent.

“Young children with a passion for drawing, sketching or cartooning will get a chance to showcase their skill.

“We are hoping to bring out the inner artist in each child. We really do believe there is a lot of talent in India and we are hoping to harness that talent through this,” he said.

The contest is open to schoolchildren from standard I to X with the students sub-divided into three groups — I-III standards in one group, IV-VI standards in the second group, and VII-X standards in the third category.

The criteria for judges to evaluate the contest will be based on ‘artistic merit’ — based on the student’s drawing skills, ‘creativity’ — representation of the theme, and ‘My India’ communication — how well the concept is expressed through the sketch along with the supporting written statement, Desikan said.

Since the participants in this contest are children, the final winner will be honoured on Children’s Day (November 14), he said.

The winner’s doodle will be up on ‘google.co.in’ throughout the day on November 14. Apart from this, the winner will also get a laptop and the participating school a technology grant, he said.

Moreover, there will be 45 other finalists chosen after the contest, who will be felicitated at an awards ceremony to be held in November.

doodle-do u do it .

A doodle is a type of sketch, an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes.

Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class. Other common examples of doodling are produced during long telephone conversations if a pen and paper are available.

12 Thumb Rules to code your HTML Emailers

HTML Emailers are still a favorite among publishers and are considered as one of the best means of online communications. With options for tracking everything from email opens, forwards and clickthroughs, HTML email newsletters allow publishers to gauge customer response for their products/services.

HTML Emailers are useful in directing potential customers to your web pages. However, all said and done, HTML Emailers can be tricky on different email software – the display can be erroneous or haphazard depending on your reader’s email clients.

Below are a set of 12 thumb rules to help you code your HTML Emailers in the most appropriate way suitable for every possible email client:

  • Keep everything simple. Nail down your message in the simplest possible way. Avoid complexity in content/design/coding.

  • Post all images on your publicly accessible web server. This will reduce the size of the emailer and also decrease the risk of it being labeled as spam mailer as spammers embed images into emails.
  • Avoid images for important content – headlines, prominent links or call to action texts. Even if you use images, specify a relevant ALT tag so that if the image is not displayed the user can have an idea of what the emailer contains.
  • Add height and width to your images to avoid blank placeholders from throwing your design out.
  • Images and text has to be in right proportion to avoid being blacklisted as spammer.
  • Use tables. They provide consistency in layout and positioning. But do not nest tables within tables as a few older email clients may not support such complexities.
  • Apply only fixed pixel sizes for font sizes and height/width.
  • Use inline styles to create the desired creative effect and also to reduce cross browser issues. For instance,
  • It is better to use span tags with inline styles instead of p and header tags as most browsers apply natural padding and margin to these tags.
  • Never use shorthand in coding. Some email clients tend to replace shorthand with longhand and several issues pop up due to this. To avoid such issues, use longhand always.
  • Instead of using CSS, use table background attribute to apply background images. However, note that Outlook 2007 does not support background images.
  • Avoid JavaScript and Forms. They are not supported by all email clients and hence it is better to avoid them.

An emailer comes alive only when tested. Test all HTML Emailers you send with every possible email client. Also, add a link to the web version of your design at the top of your emailer. In case of any technical hiccups caused due to email clients, your reader can always view your web version.

8 Great ways to be happy while handling a stressful project

You can read more and more about being productive. But you need to know the art of managing work stress. Your are truly productive only if you are stress-free. You get projects and tasks to accomplish because you are productive.

Here are eight great ways to be happy even if you are assigned to handle a stressful project:
8 Great ways to be happy while handling a stressful project

1. Stay focused – Focus on every single work you do. If you can focus more on a single task then you can reduce the friction in your work. Having too many tasks is fine but focusing on too many things is overwhelming. Sometimes our attention gets distracted when there is no deadline. So, you can even create a small stress, like a deadline, when you need to stay in focus.

2. Prioritize your tasks – What are you going to do right now matters. Push back relatively less important tasks. When you start a day with a stressful project, don’t ever think you are stressed. This thought will ruin the day. Start making a list of tasks for the day and work at the the most important task.

3. One task at a time – Multitasking is a gift. But you need not always be a person with multiple tasks. Take one task at a time. There is nothing wrong in doing a single task with full concentration. This will help you to stay productive as well.

4. Break the big project into modules – Breaking a big project into modules is not a new idea in the IT field. But here I mean the length of the task. Start your day with regular high priority work. Never expect too much to be done and never feel dissatisfied! You should always remember to break your big task into smaller chunks so that you could really feel happy on completing them. Make the tasks really small and achievable.

5. Prioritize your “To-Do” list – If you are a busy person handling multiple projects or tasks, then you definitely need “To-Do” list with tasks prioritized. You can be overwhelmed of your greater expectations. When you have a huge “To-Do” list, don’t get furious. You can very well split the list.

For example, if you have got six pending tasks with four working hours in hand, then you can split it in such a way to accomplish three tasks in two hours. You will experience a joy in yourself on completing these three tasks. This will be a booster for the next set of tasks.

6. Take a small and energetic break – It is not as simple as take a break, have a kit-kat. When you are piled up with tasks you don’t find time to take a break. When you are mentally locked up, you need to refresh yourself and take breaks. Breaks can vary from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. There are so many ways to pull out yourself. Try any one simple way which will help you relax.

7. Let your needs and goals be closely attached – What is your goal in life? You will definitely have an answer for this question. In the same question if you replace ‘goal’ with ‘need’, still you will have an answer. If these two answers go well together then, you can handle work stress. This shows that you have chosen the goal which satisfies your needs.

For an instance, you start a project with great enthusiasm and you get half way through it. But you run out of momentum towards the end. If you lose the project, it is very painful. On the other hand, if you are associated with your goal then, you can find momentum and join the party again.

8. Recollect the good things – At the end of the day you need to recollect how well you managed the day. It will really help you learn a a lot. Never feel that your job pushes you out of your comfort zone. Be positive. You are getting paid to learn the lesson of managing a stressful project and becoming a better person. Just realign your thoughts with positive things first and trash the negatives.

15 Questions You Are Most Likely To Be Asked In An Interview And How You Can Answer Them:

The job interview is considered to be the most decisive aspect of every mission that brings you face-to- face with the future boss. One must prepare for it with the same tenacity and quickness as one does for a fencing tournament or a chess match. The job interview gives the potential employee and potential employer a chance to learn more about each other and gives the prospect a chance to prove oneself.
The following are a list of top 15 questions that are asked in an interview and pointers that should be kept in mind while answering such questions.
1. Tell me about yourself.
Since this is often the opening question in an interview, one must be extra careful that the answers are concise and to the point. One does not want to end up as boasting and going on and on about oneself.
Four topics that should essentially be covered: early years, education, work history, and recent career experience.
2. What do you know about our organization?
The prospect should be able to discuss products or services, revenues, reputation, image, goals, problems, management style, people, history and philosophy. Let the answer show that one has taken the time to do some research, but one must not overwhelm the interviewer.
3. Why do you want to work for us?
The deadliest answer one can give is “Because I like people.”
Here, and throughout the interview, a good answer comes from having done one’s homework so that one can speak in terms of the company’s needs. One can discuss things that the company is doing that one finds interesting and appealing. Also, one should think about the primary reason that they went to the company for an interview in the first place. The answer would be honest and personal, and would enthrall the interviewer.
4. What can you do for us that someone else can’t? Or why should we hire you?
Here you have every right, and perhaps an obligation, to toot your own horn and be a bit egotistical. One should talk about their record of getting things done, and mention specifics from their resume or list of career accomplishments.
5. What do you look for in a job?
One should tailor their answer to match the opportunities present at the organization at hand. One should discuss their desire to perform and be recognized for their contributions.
6. How long do you plan to stay with us?
To say, forever and forever would be a mistake. One should state that they are interested in a career with the organization, but admit that that they would have to continue to feel challenged to remain with any organization. Think in terms of, “As long as we both feel achievement-oriented.” Or “mutually growing and benefited”.
7. Your resume suggests that you may be over-qualified or too experienced for this position. What would be your opinion?
Emphasize one’s interest in establishing a long-term association with the organization, and say that you assume that if you perform well in his job, new opportunities will open up for you. Mention that a strong company needs a strong staff. Observe that experienced executives are always at a premium. Suggest that since you are so well qualified, the employer will get a fast return on his investment. Say that a growing, energetic company can never have too much talent.
8. Are you a good manager? Can you give me some examples? Do you feel that you have top managerial potential?
One should keep their answer accomplishment oriented. Examples from one’s career along with the experience should be stressed upon.
9. Why are you leaving (did you leave) your present (last) job?
One should be brief, to the point, and as honest as one can without hurting oneself. Subtly indicate whether the move was your own decision, or you were cut off. Honesty goes a very long way. One’s references may easily be checked so one should stay away from concocting cock and bull stories.
10. In your current (last) position, what features do (did) you like the most? What did you dislike about it?
At this stage, one should be vigilant, positive and sincere. Describe more features that you liked than disliked.
11. What do you think of your boss?
One should be as positive as one can. A potential boss is likely to wonder if you might talk about him in similar terms at some point in the future.
12. Why aren’t you earning more at your age?
It is easy to get probed or defensive at this question. Try not to get shifty or uncomfortable and state that it was why one was looking out for a good job that would compliment his/her self.
13. What do you feel this position should pay?
Salary is a delicate topic. One must not undermine one’s own value, but continue to stress the fact that the job itself is the most important thing in one’s mind. Whenever possible, one must say as little as one can about salary until the “final” stage of the interview process is reached. At that point, one is certain that the company is genuinely interested in you and that it is likely to be flexible in salary negotiations.
14. What are your long-range goals?
One must relate the goals and vision of the company to one’s own personal goals. This helps the interviewer understand and appreciate that you are genuinely interested in the job and have the company’s best interests at heart.
15. How successful do you think you have been so far?
One must present an optimistic, realistic and confident picture of oneself. Given the normal ups and downs of life, you feel that you’ve done quite well and have no complaints.

  1. DjVu Libre - Command-line tools, (Windows/Linux)
(Windows/Linux)
(Windows/Linux)

  2. gscan2pdfல் அந்த tiff படங்களைத் திறந்து File->Save as... DjVu :)

  3. tiff/ppm/pgm -> தனித்தனி DjVu பக்கங்கள்.

$ convert page0001.tiff page0001.ppm

$ convert page0002.png page0002.pbm
Netpbm formats: ppm - colour, pgm - grayscale, pbm - monochrome

f:\djvu\> c44 page0001.ppm page0001.djvu

f:\djvu\> cpaldjvu page0002.ppm page0002.djvu

Screenshots)
f:\djvu\> cjb2 page0003.tiff page0003.djvu
Bitonal tiff / pbm files)

f:\djvu\> djvm -c myebook.djvu page0001.djvu page0002.djvu page003.djvu

f:\djvu\> djvm -i myebook.djvu page0004.djvu 4

f:\djvu\> djvm -d myebook.djvu 2

~~~~~~
பி.கு.கள்
  • நான்கைந்து பக்கங்களுக்கு மேல் இருந்தால் Script/batch file எதாவது எழுதி வைத்துக் கொள்வது உத்தமம். page0001.djvu page0002.djvu ...... என நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்கங்களை command-lineல் கொடுக்க சில சுருக்குவழிகள் இருக்கின்றன. தேடிப்பாருங்கள்.
  • DjVuக்கு இலவசமாக நிறைய viewers, browser-plugins இருக்கின்றன. நல்ல editorகள் நான் தேடியவரை கிடைக்கவில்லை (gscan2pdf தவிற). உங்களுக்கு எதாவது தெரிந்தால் சொல்லுங்கள்.
  • நாம் மேலே உருவாக்கியது bundled djvu கோப்பு. அதாவது அதன் பக்கங்கள் அனைத்தும் அதற்குள் அடக்கம். Indirect file என்று ஒருவகை உண்டு. அதாவது myebook.djvuக்குள் வெறும் லின்க்குகள் மட்டும் இருக்கும். பக்கங்கள் வெளியே தனித்தனியாக இருக்கும். djvmcvt ஐ வைத்து ஒரு bundled documentஐ, Indirect documentஆக மாற்றலாம். ஆனால் உருவாக்கும்போதே தனித்தனியான djvu பக்கங்களை வைத்து Indirect DjVu புத்தகமாக எப்படி உருவாக்குவது என்று தெரியவில்லை. யாருக்காவது தெரிந்தால் சொல்லுங்கள்.
